Step by Step Instructions and FAQ's

Select Which Kit You Have:

  • Turn the collection kit box over and look at the bottom - Is there a return shipping label affixed?
    • If yes, then you have a USPS kit! Use the United Stated Postal Service for return shipment
    • If no, then you have a FedEx kit which should contain a pre-labeled FedEx Clinical Pak
      • Note: If your kit has a FedEx Clinical Pak but no attached return label, you will print your return shipping label after you submit the online test order

USPS Return Shipping Instructions

Summary
STEP 1:
Verify order is entered
STEP 2:
Ensure specimen is labeled and sealed in provided bag with absorbent pad and place into kit box
STEP 3:
Remove adhesive liner from front tab of kit box and fold in tabs to close box and seal for return transport
STEP 4:
Press firmly on front flap to ensure good adhesion
STEP 5:
Place in USPS mail or drop off at USPS office location

NOTE: It is not advised to utilize USPS drop boxes for return shipping as specimens have been lost in transit

FEDEX Return Shipping Instructions

Summary
STEP 1:
Verify order is entered
STEP 2:
Ensure specimen is labeled and sealed in provided bag with absorbent pad and place into kit box
STEP 3:
Remove adhesive liner from kit box and fold in tabs to close box
STEP 4:
Insert box into provided FedEx Clinical Pak, remove adhesive liner and seal clinical pak by pressing firmly along edge
If FedEx pak is not pre-labeled, login to oraldna.com to generate shipping label
STEP 5:
Login to oraldna.com to schedule FedEx pickup or visit a FedEx office location to drop off the package

NOTE It is not advised to utilize FedEx drop boxes for return shipping as specimens have been lost in transit

FAQ'S

  • As long as the provided DNA preservative has been added, samples are viable for 21 days from the date of collection and may be kept at room temperature.
  • Yes, samples are viable for 21 days from the date of collection.
  • Samples may be stored and transported at room temperature.
  • USPS: Bundling is not recommended, as all internal components are tied to the pre-affixed return shipping label. For most accurate specimen tracking, please ship kits individually.
  • FedEx: Bundling specimens is acceptable.
  • 2-5 business days
  • Please ensure the test order is placed prior to shipping your specimen. No additional documentation is required.
  • The status of your sample(s) can be checked by logging in to your OralDNA account and clicking the gray “Order History” button. Samples that have been received by our lab will be listed as either Delivered, Received, In Process, Under Review, or Reported. Samples that have not yet been received will be listed as Sent.
